More Than A Vitamin

And what does vitamin D do for you when it’s bound to your DNA? The newest Journal of Immunology shows that it stops inflammation. How does this relate to sunshine? Exposure to the sun is the main source for your body’s vitamin D.

It is thought the opinion, from much modern advice to avoid the sun at all costs. However, making the recommendation to cover up and stay out of the sunshine is about the worst advice you could ever take. The trick is, you need to have enough vitamin D to activate the process. And this is where modern advice could be failing you.

Studies now say vitamin D lowers the risk of cancer in post-menopausal women by as much as 77%.
That also makes vitamin D possibly the most important nutrient we know of, especially for women.
Living in Queensland does have it’s advantages.

Best Sources Of Vitamin D

Current national guidelines suggest that you should get a minimum of only 600 IU a day. But look what happens when you only get that small amount.

In various more studies some conditions that affect women:

* More than half of people with osteoporosis-related fractured had low vitamin D.
* 63% of people with Crohn’s disease still had low vitamin D even though 40% of them were taking a supplement!
* An incredible 96% of people who had heart attacks were vitamin D deficient.

The problem is, almost everyone is deficient in vitamin D. I’m not exaggerating. One study looked at 1,600 people and found 89% of them had low vitamin D. I could go on and on.

Many people do their best to get in the sun and take supplements. But often their levels of vitamin D are still too low.
So the next time you go in for a physical, ask your doctor to check your level of vitamin D.
It’s a simple, inexpensive test that provides valuable information.

It is suggested you aim for a minimum of 2,000 IU of vitamin D a day. If you get 97b6927e2bb7f949e559c12ccb606c7d

your level tested and it’s low, research suggests between 5,000 and 10,000 IU a day from a variety of sources until you’re levels are back up.. Studies show as little as 10 minutes in the midday sun produces 10,000 units of vitamin D. You feel instantly better.

Eating fish a few times a week will give you a lot of vitamin D, too. You might want to stick with the smaller, cold-water fish like sardines to avoid the mercury in some of the larger fish. A tablespoon of cod liver oil gives you more than 1,300 IU of vitamin D. But even that can be tough to take.

I suggest the D3 form – the bioactive kind of vitamin D. But don’t rely on your multivitamin to give you all the vitamin D you need, even if it does have D3. It’s a good start, but most still only have around 400 IU.

Here’s to good health and spending a little time in the sun this weekend!

Bamboo’s Beauty Booster

Bamboo For Beauty

For more than 2,000 years, Chinese medicine has used one single secret for young-looking hair, skin AND nails. I’m talking about the common bamboo plant or Bambusa vulgaris.

In China, bamboo is a symbol for longevity. It regenerates itself faster than any other plant in the world. Some species will grow up to four feet every day. Bamboo grows fast and thick and constantly renews itself because it’s rich in the essential mineral silica. That’s the same mineral that makes your hair and nails grow fast and strong, and regenerates your skin

Bamboo’s Silica Helps Repair and Rebuild Collagen

Silica is one of the most critical components of collagen, your skin’s connective tissue.
Collagen is like scaffolding holding up the structure of your skin. Whenever collagen is damaged,
that scaffolding weakens and your skin can start to wrinkle and sag.

Bamboo

When that happens, silica steps in to rebuild and regenerate the collagen matrix. It strengthens all of the body’s other connective tissues, too, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilage and bone.

Silica is also a vital mineral to you if you have thinning hair or brittle nails. It transports essential nutrients to the ends of the body, namely your hair and nails. That ensures that hair follicles and nail beds get all the vital minerals needed for growth and vitality.

When you were young, you had lots of natural silica. That’s why children always seem to have beautiful silky hair, soft skin and perfect nails. But as adults, we lose 10 to 40 mg of silica every day. It’s excreted in urine, or lost when hair falls out or when we trim our nails.

If you’re over 40 you’re probably deficient in silica. Tell-tale signs are new wrinkles, thinning hair and brittle nails.
But you can reverse all that just by replenishing your silica stores.

Bamboo Silica Rebuilds Collagen

Boost Your Silica Levels With Bamboo Extract

We can get some silica from our food. Young bamboo shoots are an excellent source. Seafood, leafy greens, root vegetables, almonds, seeds, whole grains and even beer are good sources of silica.

But modern chemical farming practices have depleted the soil of trace minerals and other nutrients. Many of our foods can’t deliver enough silica. That’s why I would suggest silica in a supplement form. I usually will introduce silica into my nutritional regime for six months of the year.

Here’s to looking more youthful

My Journey of Self-Empowerment – By Judy Mills

The first forty years of my life involved many twists and turns and presented me with many lessons to learn…
Eventually I reached a point where I knew I had to own what was happening to my health and take full control to heal my body and mind on all levels.

At fifteen years of age I was diagnosed with Poly Arthritis forcing me to leave school, due to the inability to write.
My body was completely challenged; particularly my arms which were so severely affected.

In my thirties I had a tumor in my lung and rib cage, then had a hysterectomy in my late thirties….All the while I never felt well ….I was just existing …

In my forties, I owned and ran businesses, led a stressful life without a lot of balance, (obviously running on adrenal stress, not truly managing my life as we should under these circumstances).

Then at the age of 51, I was biologically over 100 years old with cancerous cells …This was a true wake up call!! And this time I knew it was up to me. I had to take responsibility to heal and change my life in so many ways and on so many levels.

I sold my last business in late 1998, then I was fortunate to have the time to continue to heal and empower myself with knowledge and research, and truly take charge of my own destiny.

I became extremely interested in health care and also anti-aging and at that time my research took me to work with one of the leading anti-aging practitioners in Australia. I was like a sponge; learning, studying and soaking up knowledge. How could we bring the youth back into our bodies? Could we have them functioning biologically many years younger than our chronological age?

I continue to search and share our findings with you and I know that when we find the right balance holistically…Wow!!

Is Cleansing Your Skin Important?

Washing your face daily is just as important in your skin care regime as it is for you to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep of night.Face Cleansing
Your face should be washed twice a day-once in the morning when you first wake up and once at night before you go to sleep.

Why is it so important that you wash your face twice a day?

Because washing your face:

– removes all of the makeup, oil, sunscreen and everyday environmental pollutants from the face
– helps prevent clogged pores, which reduces breakouts
– preps the skin for better product penetration

Research shows cleansing before bed is essential to looking younger, longer. Every day your skin is aging. And the very simple process of washing your face before bed is an excellent way to mitigate the external factors associated with aging and to stimulate the internal processes that fight aging.

Even if you don’t wear makeup, it’s very important to wash your face with a cleanser. It’s not just makeup you want to wash off, but also makeup, pollutants, bacteria and unwanted debris off your face.

In addition, it’s important to recognize that properly cleansing the skin prepares your skin to absorb products you may put on after, like a serum or anti-aging cream. Clearing out your pores allows the cream to penetrate into your skin for maximum effectiveness.

Certain physiological changes in the skin occur overnight. Like many of our organs, our skin can tell night from day. Biological processes vary over 24 hours as a result of time-sensitive “clocks” within our cells.

Overnight, the skin needs oxygen to repair itself. And sleeping with your makeup on deprives it of this vital nutrient.
When makeup is left on, it blocks the natural exfoliating process, which can leave your skin looking dull.Face Wash

Nighttime cleansing is essential for letting anti-aging ingredients work. Nocturnal blood flow in the skin is higher, and when blood flow is increased so is absorption and penetration of ingredients. If you don’t wash your face before bed it’s a missed opportunity to do something great for your skin and to wake up with smoother, softer, clearer skin.

Forgoing nighttime cleansing regularly can give you larger pores. Consider that excess sebum (oil), dead skin cells, and makeup are sitting on your face. A cleanser will emulsify all of these and remove them from the surface of your skin.

Once your collagen levels start to decline (due to aging), the pores do not snap back as easily once they become enlarged. Leaving makeup on can lead to inflammation that can generate free radicals and collagen breakdown.

Nighttime cleansing prevents skin dehydration. This in part causes the skin to lose a significant portion of water at night.

In the morning you have more dead skin cells to slough off, and more excess sebum to emulsify. These can’t be rinsed away with mere water.  Water alone removes only about 65% of oil and debris from the surface of the skin. Think about what you’re leaving behind.

A great facial cleanser that contains natural organic ingredients is our CELL INFUSE Hydrating Cleanser.
