Top Tips for Luscious Lips

Famous makeup guru Max Factor once said, “A woman who doesn’t wear lipstick feels undressed in public. Unless she works on a farm.”

And TIME magazine reported as far back as 1958 that, “The beauty industry fears no recession, for a woman will give up food before her pursuit of beauty – and often because of it.”

Apparently, things haven’t changed much since then. Fifty years later, beauty retail website feelingunique.com asked 1,000 women in the UK about their shopping habits. They found that nearly one in three female respondents said they would prefer to eat less than reduce their spending on “essential” beauty items.

So, how did we get to this place? Well, the desire to look beautiful and adorn the face is nothing new. In fact, the origin of lipstick dates back to 5,000 BC in the Sumerian region of Ur, according to Jessica Pallingston, author of Lipstick: A Celebration of a Girl’s Best Friend.

Ancient Egyptians loved lip paints and were masters at mixing color and precise application, Pallingston also maintains. Perhaps the most famous Egyptian woman, Cleopatra, was said to have used crushed ants and carmine beetles, which gave a deep red pigment, to adorn her lips.

Lipstick Colours

Tone it down. It may seem counter-intuitive, but as we age, we actually need less makeup, not more, according to Bruce Grayson, celebrity makeup artist for both the Emmy awards and the Oscars. Instead of bright or dark lipstick, stick with a color that closely matches your natural shade and brush some clear gloss over it for a fresh, young daytime look. For evening, opt for a deeper shade of the daytime color and a tinted gloss.

Go blue. To make teeth look dazzling white, choose lip colors with blue undertones, such as the lightest shades of wine, plum, or rosy pink. Skip the orange and coral lip colors – they can make teeth appear yellow.

Exfoliate. Skin on the lips is delicate, but still needs to be exfoliated. My favorite trick is to use a clean toothbrush – minus the toothpaste, of course – to lightly brush my lips and exfoliate dead cells.

Remember the lip liner. Outlining the lips with liner gives a more finished look to them and also keeps lipstick from “feathering” outside the natural lip line. My shortcut: I line my lips with a color that matches my natural lip color, then fill it in over the entire lip area. Then, I put a light gloss right over that, skipping lipstick altogether for a natural look that stays on longer.

The first forty years of my life involved many twists and turns and presented me with many lessons to learn…

At fifteen years of age I was diagnosed with Poly Arthritis forcing me to leave school, due to the inability to write.

In my thirties I had a tumor in my lung and rib cage, then had a hysterectomy in my late thirties….All the while I never felt well ….I was just existing …

In my forties, I owned and ran businesses, led a stressful life without a lot of balance, (obviously running on adrenal stress, not truly managing my life as we should under these circumstances).

Then at the age of 51, I was biologically over 100 years old with cancerous cells …This was a true wake up call!! And this time I knew it was up to me. I had to take responsibility to heal and change my life in so many ways and on so many levels.

I sold my last business in late 1998, then I was fortunate to have the time to continue to heal and empower myself with knowledge and research, and truly take charge of my own destiny.

I became extremely interested in health care and also anti-aging and at that time my research took me to work with one of the leading anti-aging practitioners in Australia. I was like a sponge; learning, studying and soaking up knowledge. How could we bring the youth back into our bodies? Could we have them functioning biologically many years younger than our chronological age?

Simple Lifestyle Choices To Look And Feel Younger

While some people think they need to overhaul their whole lifestyle in order to look and feel younger,there are simple and speedy things you can do in just a few minutes that could add up to big results.
You may see this and think, “That’s common sense,” and yes it is, but making good choices & then if you actually DO it, you’ll feel and look better.

Healthy Lifestyle Choices

Exercise is the fountain of youth. However, spending hours at the gym just isn’t feasible for people on the go.
Instead, spend about 15 minutes each morning doing a shorter, but more vigorous routine.
If you stick with it, you will look and feel younger and more alive.

Eliminate bad habits. We all have our vices but try to limit nicotine, excessive alcohol intake and baking in the sun,

If you can’t resist these temptations completely, at least try to cut down – every little bit helps.

Watch what you eat. You don’t necessarily have to eliminate junk and comfort food completely from your diet.
The key is to make healthier choices most of the time and consume smaller portions.

Following these easy tips and keeping a consistent routine could be just what you need to take a few years off your look.

Is Cleansing Your Skin Important?

Washing your face daily is just as important in your skin care regime as it is for you to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep of night.Face Cleansing
Your face should be washed twice a day-once in the morning when you first wake up and once at night before you go to sleep.

Why is it so important that you wash your face twice a day?

Because washing your face:

– removes all of the makeup, oil, sunscreen and everyday environmental pollutants from the face
– helps prevent clogged pores, which reduces breakouts
– preps the skin for better product penetration

Research shows cleansing before bed is essential to looking younger, longer. Every day your skin is aging. And the very simple process of washing your face before bed is an excellent way to mitigate the external factors associated with aging and to stimulate the internal processes that fight aging.

Even if you don’t wear makeup, it’s very important to wash your face with a cleanser. It’s not just makeup you want to wash off, but also makeup, pollutants, bacteria and unwanted debris off your face.

In addition, it’s important to recognize that properly cleansing the skin prepares your skin to absorb products you may put on after, like a serum or anti-aging cream. Clearing out your pores allows the cream to penetrate into your skin for maximum effectiveness.

Certain physiological changes in the skin occur overnight. Like many of our organs, our skin can tell night from day. Biological processes vary over 24 hours as a result of time-sensitive “clocks” within our cells.

Overnight, the skin needs oxygen to repair itself. And sleeping with your makeup on deprives it of this vital nutrient.

Nighttime cleansing is essential for letting anti-aging ingredients work. Nocturnal blood flow in the skin is higher, and when blood flow is increased so is absorption and penetration of ingredients. If you don’t wash your face before bed it’s a missed opportunity to do something great for your skin and to wake up with smoother, softer, clearer skin.

Forgoing nighttime cleansing regularly can give you larger pores. Consider that excess sebum (oil), dead skin cells, and makeup are sitting on your face. A cleanser will emulsify all of these and remove them from the surface of your skin.

Once your collagen levels start to decline (due to aging), the pores do not snap back as easily once they become enlarged. Leaving makeup on can lead to inflammation that can generate free radicals and collagen breakdown.

Nighttime cleansing prevents skin dehydration. This in part causes the skin to lose a significant portion of water at night.
